On Thursday, one of Taiwan’s most prominent feminist writers, the winner of several prestigious literature awards, Li Ang, will have her public reading in Bratislava. Along with prominent Slovak poet Ivan Strpka who has just turned 80, they are guests at the festival known as the Authors’ Reading Month. The event is held in 3 countries, Czechia, Slovakia and Poland. The Slovak part of the festival is being held in Bratislava and Kosice through the beginning of August presenting writers and poets not only from Slovakia and the Czechia. This year, the guest country is Taiwan.
This Central European literature festival was launched in the early 2000s in Brno, Czechia. Over the years, it spread to Slovakia and Poland, making it an international event of reference for high-quality literature. 31 evenings of public reading are presented every day by a local author along with a representative of the guest-of-honour country.
