Biggest health insurance company expects loss of €169M in 2024
The health insurance company Všeobecná zdravotná poisťovňa (VšZP) expects a loss of 169 million euros in 2024. The chairman of the Health Care Surveillance Authority (ÚDZS) Michal Palkovič considers it urgent and asked for the submission of measures. "If effective countermeasures are not taken, expectations on the part of health care providers may not be met. We are ready to actively participate in solutions that will help the entire sector," said Palkovič. The recurring problem with missing resources is partly caused by deficiencies in the creation of the budget and regulatory frameworks, which must be addressed in the future. The Health Ministry plans to establish a council for the healthcare budget, which will systematically deal with these issues on a regular basis. The lack of financial resources also affects other health insurance companies, however not to such an extent.
