The route of the oil pipeline connecting Slovakia and Austria hasn't been decided yet, with all those involved working on the potential route at the moment, the companies Transpetrol and Bratislava-Schwechat Pipeline (BSP) wrote in a statement on Tuesday.
The companies were responding to information published in Hospodárske Noviny daily in its Tuesday edition which stated the controversial oil pipeline should be built through the heavily populated Bratislava suburb of Petržalka. The representatives of the two companies complain that the information in the daily is misleading, as the decision to route the pipeline through Petržalka is not final. “We're now considering all aspects, including the legislation, property rights, geological aspects, technological, and economic ones, which are associated with the potential carrying out of one of the total of ten route alternatives under consideration within the so-called city corridor”, stated the companies’ representatives, adding that the final route might diverge tens of kilometres from the one being considered at the moment.
