Shorter accommodation allowance for refugees

As of 1 July, in Slovakia, the accommodation allowance for refugees will be reduced to 120 days. The period begins once refugees are officially granted temporary refuge. For longer periods, the allowance will only be available for vulnerable persons. The amount of financial aid will remain at five euros per night for accommodation in a family house or apartment and six euros for accommodation provided in another property not used for business purposes. This follows from an amendment to the Asylum Act and a government regulation.
The new conditions are designed to ensure that support for refugees is sustainable in the long term and as targeted as possible.
