President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the summit of European Union leaders in Brussels. The Slovak head of state assured his Ukrainian counterpart that Slovakia would continue to supply electricity and military aid to Ukraine. Pellegrini made the announcement at a press conference on Friday (28 June).
"I informed him about the activities of the arms industry and the strengthening of production capacities in order to meet the initiatives of other European states in supplying ammunition or other weapons systems," the head of state said.
He also assured Zelensky that Slovakia would continue with humanitarian aid. He added that this includes, for example, the provision of relief equipment. The Slovak and Ukrainian presidents will meet again at a summit in Washington. There they will continue the bilateral discussion.
Regarding the war in the Middle East, Pellegrini announced that Slovakia has offered a government squadron and a government transport plane. They are ready to take part in the transfer of wounded persons from the Gaza Strip to any hospitals within the EU countries.
