The deputy-chairperson of the Parliament Committee for Agriculture and the Environment, opposition MP Tamara Stohlová, points out the intention to transform the Malá Fatra National Park into a nature park with a lower level of protection. According to her, possible changes also concern other national parks. According to Stohlová, a meeting is to be held on Tuesday (June 25) to discuss lowering or maintaining the levels of protection. It will be held without representatives of the national park. Stohlová says that these changes are desired by people whose activities are forestry, hunting or other types of business in national parks. In the case of the Tatra National Park (TANAP), there is threat of not being included in the protected UNESCO reserves. "The statements of party PS are a manifestation of its incompetence. We can assure you that the ministry does not plan to abolish national parks. It will also not do anything that harms the interests of Slovakia within the EU," the Interior Ministry stated.
