Young Slovaks trust EU more than national gov't, but don't vote

Young Slovaks trust the EU more than their national Government, but their turnout in European election is still quite low, it follows from a survey conducted by Focus agency. More than half of young people aged 15-29 also lack sufficient information about the EU. This lack of awareness translates into their lukewarm approach to European elections. The survey established that 65 percent of Slovaks aged 15-29 trust the EU, a figure that significantly exceeds the young people's trust in the Slovak Government and Parliament (35 percent). A similar level of trust was declared for NATO and the police.
