A draft law which could allow easier felling of trees and bushes has been returned to parliament. In May, then President Zuzana Čaputová vetoed it. According to the draft law, anyone could cut down a tree that has a trunk with a circumference of less than 60 centimeters without a permit and financial compensation. Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba rejects the criticism. He says that the municipalities should not fine those who want to clean up unwanted greenery, but those who systematically neglect taking care of it.
