A total of 793 chamois were counted during this year's spring chamois inventory in the Tatra National Park (TANAP), TANAP posted on a social network. While 589 chamois were spotted on the Slovak side of the High Tatra mountains, 204 individuals were recorded in neighbouring Poland. This is approximately the same number as last year, when 816 chamois were registered on both sides of the national park. Compared to last year, both national parks decided to count the chamois a little earlier. According to zoologist Erika Feriancova, this change paid off, the weather was fine. Although the final number didn't exceed a thousand, zoologists were pleased with the number of this year's baby animals. On the Slovak side of the High Tatra mountains they counted 56 of them, in Poland they spotted 24 individuals.
