Jan Kubis to be President Pellegrini's advisor for foreign policy issues

Diplomat, former OSCE Secretary General and ex-minister of foreign affairs Jan Kubis will be President Peter Pellegrini's advisor for foreign affairs and international policy issues, president-elect Pellegrini has said in an exclusive interview for TASR.

Pellegrini views the foreign-political dimension of the president's work as extremely important and doesn't want to underestimate it. In this context, he pointed to the demanding diplomatic missions undertaken by Jan Kubis when he served at the United Nations (UN). "I am pleased that I will have such an experienced diplomat at my side so that I can consult him when preparing for summits and tough debates," stated Pellegrini.

He added that he's building his advisory team and approaching people in areas he views as priorities. At the same time, he is preparing to take over the presidential office. "Many people there will end up in their posts with the departure of the president [Zuzana Caputova]. I have my own idea of how to manage the presidential palace," stated Pellegrini.
