Prosecutor General looks at Supreme Court Chair appointment

The Prosecutor-General's (PG) Office will look into the election of the Supreme Court chair that took place last month and saw Daniela Švecová being elected, PG Office spokesperson Andrea Predajnová announced on Thursday. The ballot was challenged by former Supreme Court chairman Štefan Harabin.

He claims that fewer ballot papers were collected in the election than were originally issued. “PG deputy for crime issues Peter Šufliarsky will ask Judicial Council chair Jana Bajánková to provide information on the election of the Supreme Court chair,” said Predajnová. According to Bajánková, the election took place in line with the Slovak legal order, with the protocol from the ballot being published on the internet. Nobody from Judicial Council members and candidates for Supreme Court head have raised any objections against the ballot, she stressed.
