Interior Ministry finds own rental deal transparent

The Interior Ministry won't make any comment on the criminal complaint filed by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) vice-chair and MP Ľubomír Galko, as evaluating its merits is a role reserved for law enforcement bodies, Ministry Press Department head Ivan Netik said on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Galko accused the ministry of renting a building, set to be used by ministerial staff for office space, in a shady manner. Netik claimed that the ministry doesn't plan to cancel the rental arrangement and maintains that the process was transparent. “After we conducted an evaluation of our own buildings, we found that sufficient office capacity for a new section is lacking. Hence, we initiated a survey of the market and chose the lowest and most efficient offer. The offered bid is cheaper than market prices in the given location and the building has its own parking lot and necessary equipment, which with other buildings costs extra,” said Netik. The building is to be rented for a staff of at least 150, employed at a new ministry section of European programmes financed from EU Funds and will communicate with institutions and public administration organisations located in the Bratislava City Centre.
