Interior Minister wants to make changes to police ASAP, EC has been informed

Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Hlas-SD) said before the Security Council session on Wednesday that he wants to make changes to police presidium departments as soon as possible, probably in a month, adding that the ministry has already communicated them to the Prosecutor-General's Office and the European Commission.

"We are working to ensure that the changes to the police presidium departments are implemented as soon as possible. We'll inform you about them before they take effect," said the minister, adding this will not happen as of June 1. Sutaj Estok confirmed that all specialised presidium departments should undergo changes. He cited understaffing of the police force and the need to reflect the current security situation as the reasons for reorganisation.

The minister stated that there was a need to hold a special Security Council session before the cabinet session due to the situation in connection with the assassination attempt on Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD). "We will communicate the information from the Security Council session that we will be able to provide to the public when it is concluded," he said.
