Slovakia lacks used glass bottles for recycling. According to Vetropack Nemšová (Slovak company focusing on glass recycling), this is due to the fact that a significant amount of glass ends up in municipal waste. Its general director Boris Sluka told TASR that glass can be recycled indefinitely, but it does not decompose in landfills. That is why he considers it good if Slovaks start separating it more.
"We can recycle up to 150,000 tonnes of used glass a year, the only limiting factor is the lack of it," Sluka said. He added that recycled glass is used in the fabrication of new packaging, which is more environmentally friendly than production from primary raw materials.
