Minebea Slovakia opens development center in Košice

MinebeaMitsumi inaugurated a new development center on Tuesday in Košice. It should contribute to expanding the production program, strengthening the development of new products and applications for the automotive market, and  the development of electric motors for industrial use. As Radoslav Pastorak, manager of Minebea Slovakia, told TASR, up to 200 people could work here.

According to him, the opening of the building for research and development (R&D) in Košice represents an important milestone in the company's expansion and innovation efforts. The new facility is to become a center of technological progress.

At the same time, the company wants to intensify cooperation with the Technical University in Košice and other recognized universities, thus creating a lively ecosystem of exchange of knowledge and technical skills. "Our goal is to create a collaborative environment that harnesses the talents of engineers and researchers and fosters innovation that will benefit not only our company but also the entire region," said MinebeaMitsumi's General Manager for Regional Affairs for Europe Jörg Hoffmann.

The new R&D center will specialize in the development of industrial and automotive solutions and the design and testing of software, thereby diversifying and enriching the production focus of the company's existing plants in Košice. "We have built a new R&D building, where there are new laboratories and chambers, where you can also do activities that are not so common in Slovakia. Our R&D researchers will develop new industrial and automotive applications," added Pastorak, who particularly highlighted the laboratory for electromagnetic compatibility testing.

Currently, 50 qualified engineers are employed in the center, while a total of 120 to 200 could work in the centeer.

"This new research and development facility is proof of our commitment to drive technological progress and support the local economy," added Yoshihisa Kainuma, chairman of parent company MinebeaMitsumi, adding that by expanding the team and improving research capabilities, they are at the forefront of industrial and automotive innovation.
MinebeaMitsumi operates two production facilities in Košice - Minebea AccessSolutions Slovakia and Minebea Slovakia. They currently employ a total of around 1,400 people.
