Parliament condemned the assassination attempt of Prime Minister Robert Fico. All 130 deputies present voted for the resolution proposed by Smer-SD. The coalition MPs proposed at Tuesday’s (May 21) session a resolution by which the Parliament should, in response to the attempted assassination of Robert Fico condemn violence and call on political entities, media and non-governmental organizations. It is in order respect the results of the elections and not to spread hatred, said Ľuboš Blaha, vice-chairman of the Parliament, together with the party leadership. The resolution is intended to encourage the government to adopt adequate security measures that will prevent further violent political attacks on constitutional officials and citizens of the Slovak Republic.
