Parliament has approved new budget rules, the so-called European spending caps. The Finance Ministry expects that over the next 7 years work is needed to improve the state treasury’s health. According to the Council for Budget Responsibility, Slovakia is at risk of bankruptcy, i.e. a situation where the state would not be able to repay its loans. Already in 2030, the risk of bankruptcy will reach 81 percent. Ten years from now, in 2034, the probability will rise to almost 100 per cent.
