Major cleanup for national parks

Scouts descended into two national parks over the weekend to clean up rubbish left behind from the summer tourist season. For the fifteenth year, Slovenský Raj and the Tatra National Park (TANAP) received volunteers and scouts from the 75th scout regiment of Ján Vojtaššák and the Podtatranská area.

“We removed rubbish from every hiking trail and gorge in the northern part of the Slovenský Raj National Park. We went through hiking trails in the gorges of Suchá Belá, Piecky, Sokol, Malý Kyseľ, Sokolia dolina, continuing into Hornád Canyon, from the neck of Hornád together with Kláštorska gorge, the Green Tourist Trail from Podlesok to Kláštorisko, Tomášovský výhľad, and Hornád Canyon after Letanovský Mlyn”, said appointed event organiser Marek Leskovjanský. Despite the seemingly pristine landscapes of the National Parks, 54 Scouts in total removed several bags of rubbish. “We collected about seven 120-liter bags of garbage, with the completion being at Kláštorisko”, added Leskovjansky.
