President-elect Peter Pellegrini is aiming to unite Slovakia. He thinks that political turmoil and polarized society are very dangerous. He also expressed regret towards people who publicly showed their support and trust in him.
Pellegrini: "I am sorry that they are exposed to sharper personal, political and media attacks. I am asking them, to not respond to this policy of hatred, because it is a fire that started very easily, but it is almost impossible to put out."
Pellegrini also expressed his concern about civil resistance and the massive outburst of people wanting to leave Slovakia. On the other hand, he expressed his understanding for the frustration of the people who hoped for a different outcome in presidential election. He added that he believed and still believes that the values of peace, reconciliation and cohesion are universal and should appeal to people in Slovakia across the political spectrum.
