Slovensko.Digital not surprised by dissolution of Slovensko IT
Civil association Slovensko.Digital considered the setting up of state-owned company Slovensko IT risky from the very beginning, TASR learnt from association's statement on Tuesday.

Investments Minister Richard Rasi's (Hlas-SD) decision to scrap the company therefore didn't surprise Slovensko.Digital.

"The need for radical measures was already hinted at by former [investments] minister [Peter] Balik, who, however, as a caretaker minister, left this decision to the current government," stated Slovensko.Digital. The association didn't consider the internal development capacities of the state to be the biggest problem of computerisation, although in other countries such capacities exist and function on the state's side.

"The main goal to set up Slovensko IT was to achieve greater transparency, flexibility and efficiency of deliveries in state IT. These expectations haven't been fulfilled," said Lubor Illek of Slovensko.Digital, adding that he expects the current leadership of the Investments, Regional Development and Informatisation Ministry to present a new plan on how the original goals will be achieved. "We still have a vivid memory of the failures of the times when there was only exceptionally weak professional capacity on the part of the state and practically the entire planning, management and quality control of informatisation was handed over to private companies," he added.
