Success of the international folklore festival in the village of Vychodna (Zilina region) is one of the priorities of the Culture Ministry, Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) said following her meeting with Vychodna mayor Pavel Krupa on Monday (April 8), the ministry's communication department head Petra Bacinska has told TASR.
Simkovicova and Krupa concurred that adequate attention needs to be paid to the festival's preparation and that its status must be restored.
"Feedback both from senior representatives of the village of Vychodna and from the festival partners is very important to me. The festival not only provides space for friendly meetings of all generations of folklorists, but is also an important pillar of preserving the jewels of our culture. Therefore, it's extremely important to us to increase its quality," said the minister.
Simkovicova discussed the most important steps and schedule of preparations for the festival with the village mayor. They also defined the problems related to the organisation and "insufficient communication on the part of the National Enlightenment Centre" (NOC), which is the main organiser of the event. The minister promised to fix the imperfections.
This year the festival in Vychodna will be held between July 4 and 7 with "traditions in motion" as the main theme.
