Parliamentary Vice-chair Peter Ziga (Hlas-SD) took over the record of the presidential election result from State Electoral Commission chairman Eduard Burda on Tuesday.
Ziga has been temporarily entrusted with the powers of the House chair as of Sunday (April 7), as Peter Pellegrini's mandate expired upon the day of his election as head of state.
"I thank all citizens who made use of the democratic right to participate in the election, as they showed their interest in the future of Slovakia and in public affairs," stated Ziga, praising the high voter-turnout. He called on people to respect the election outcome.
In addition, Ziga thanked the State Electoral Commission for its work, as well as members of ward electoral commissions, the security forces, municipalities and all those who ensured that the election proceeded smoothly.
