Pellegrini no longer Speaker of Parliament

President-elect Peter Pellegrini's MP mandate as well as his tenure as the House Chair has ended. The Slovak Constitution stipulates that if an MP, a member of government or judge, among others, is elected president, their tenure terminates on the day of election. As of Sunday, Peter Žiga was named a temporary head of the council its vice-chairman. The official Speaker of Parliament is yet to be elected. Opposition party SAS, however, appeals to coalition to make this decision as soon as possible and criticize Pellegrini for being unaware that his mandate as a lawmaker has terminated.
