No law on bears in Slovak constitution

Extraordinary parliamentary session dealing with regulating number of bears in Slovakia will not be held. The draft for constitutional law was submitted by coalition SNS party. 90 MPs are needed to approve the proposal so to make it pass. This number can be secured only with the help of the opposition that does not see the need for solving this problem by constitutional law.

SaS party finds the bear situation in Slovakia alarming and asks Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba to create a working group of experts from across the political spectrum to reach a nationwide consensus. PS, however, say that Taraba´s constitutional law that includes bear shooting only causes panic and consider that preventive measures are just as important.
