Zuzana Čaputová congratulates Pellegrini

President Zuzana Čaputová congratulated Peter Pellegrini on his victory in the 2024 presidential election in a telephone conversation  early Sunday and voiced her appreciation for a high voter turnout, TASR learnt from president's spokesperson Martin Strizinec on the same day.

Čaputová finds it important for the new president to act in such a way so as to make no portion of society feel defeated.

"After every free and fair election, a portion of society rejoices and another part is disappointed. What's important for the new president is to act in such a way from the moment of appointment so as not to make any portion of society feel defeated. So that the joy fuelled by victory goes hand in hand with service to all Slovak citizens, not just those who voted for the new president," claimed the head of state.

Čaputová wished a successful presidency for Pellegrini, who will take over the post as of June 15.
