Only five of the 24 parties and coalitions running in the European Parliament elections for Slovakia have a woman as the leader of their candidate list. Smer-SD has put Monika Beňová, a long-time MEP, as the leader of the candidate list. The KDH will be led by current MEP Miriam Lexmann. Lucia Nicholson is the head of the candidate list of the party Spájame Občanov Slovenska - SOSK (Linking Citizens of Slovakia - SOSK). The Pirate Party - Slovakia is led by Zuzana Šubová and the Volt Slovakia party will be led by Lucia Kleštincová. There are 324 candidates running in the European Parliament (EP) elections. On 8 June, Slovaks will elect 15 MEPs for a five-year term. They can circle up to two candidates from a single list.
