The voter turnout in the first round of the presidential election reached 51.91 percent (2,265,656 voters), the State Electoral Commission confirmed with the official results at a news conference on Sunday, adding that 2,254,206 people cast valid votes.
The highest voter turnout in the first round of the presidential election was reported in Bratislava region, at 61.37 percent, while the lowest turnout was in Kosice region, where it was 44.14 percent.
"A total of 53.19 percent of eligible voters came out to polling stations in towns and cities and 50.47 percent in villages," said Statistics Office chairman Martin Nemky.
Voter turnout in 45 districts exceeded the national average. The results that were closest to the national average were posted in the village of Dolna Sec in the district of Levice (Nitra region).
