After the Visegrad 4 meeting on Thursday, Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár reiterated that Slovakia will not join the Czech initiative to buy ammunition for Ukraine from third countries.
He did not say whether Slovakia would refuse to sell ammunition to the Czech initiative. Slovakia’s defense industry is a significant producer of 155-mm shells. Prime Minister Fico has said he will not object to private companies selling arms to other countries, including Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Blanár also welcomed the news on Thursday that the EU has decided to open accession talks with Bosnia and Herzegovina. He said Slovakia is ready to help and share experiences from its own accession procedure.
