Revenues in industry dropped in January, the third month in a row to see a drop in turnover compared to the year before. The Statistics Office pointed out that industry is the largest segment of the Slovak economy.
Employment in industry continues to decline the Office said in a separate report. In fact, employment in industry has shrunk for the past 23 months.
Interestingly, the sector saw the highest rises of average salaries, 11 per cent in January compared to the year before, or 5 per cent after inflation. For the entire economy, salaries were up in the first month of the year, compared to twelve months earlier.
