Reconstruction work on Bratislava's Old Bridge, which had been halted due to suspicions that there could be unexploded mines on the Danube riverbed, has resumed.
The contractor, which began work on dismantling pillar no. 3, has though been banned from using any explosives in the process by the Interior Ministry. “The Interior Ministry presented to City Hall an expert opinion stipulating that it's possible to proceed with dismantling the pillar, but only under the condition that instructions given by the ministry are observed. No explosive devices may be used when tearing down the pillars,” stated mayor of Bratislava Milan Ftáčnik.
