The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has ruled that data from mobile phones belonging to controversial Slovak businessman Marian Kočner were published illegally, following the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak. This violated Kočner's right to privacy. The Court ruled that Kočner should be awarded €2,000 in damages.
