Marriage is on the decline: almost ten per cent of households in Slovakia are run by non-married heterosexual couples, according to the latest figures from the Statistics Office. It used to be that cohabitation was for older, divorced couples. But no more: two-thirds of people in a cohabiting relationship have never been married; divorced people make up only about 27 percent, and 7 percent have not legally ended their previous marriage, said spokeswoman Jasmina Stauder.
