Judicial Court judge elected

Judge of the Supreme Court Jana Bajánková was elected president of the Judicial Council on Tuesday. In a secret ballot at the Judicial Council meeting in Bratislava she was the only candidate.

Ten of 17 council members voted for her. ”I assure everyone that I will represent the interests of all judges, regardless of their platform of opinion,” she said after the election. In May, Bajánková was a candidate for the post of Supreme Court president in the failed election in Sobrance. Now she was nominated as a candidate to chair the Judicial Council by its seven members. Daniela Švecová will lead the Supreme Court over the next five years. On her election, she stated that her priority was to cut short protractions in court proceedings. First of all, she intends to get familiar with the situation at the Supreme Court.
