As part of the events surrounding the European Mobility Week, organisers hosted a race in rush-hour traffic this morning in Bratislava, Slovakia’s largest city. The competitors involved travelled on a pre-selected journey by using a bicycle, public transport, and a car.
Participants made the journey from the Bratislava suburb of Rača to Hlavné námestie (the main square) in the city centre to see which was the fastest. Last year a similar race took place however the participants had a different route across Apollo Bridge, while in the meantime being required to stop and buy breakfast at the Eurovea shopping centre. Last year was won by the professional cyclist, mastering it in 15 minutes. Approximately five minutes later the car driver and an urban cyclist arrived. A runner arrived after 22 minutes, and the long journey was made via public transport at 35 minutes.
