Since joining the European Union twenty years ago, Slovakia has received 30 billion euros from the common funds, said Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar at an event to celebrate the 20th anniversary. Blanár said joining the EU also gave Slovakia the benefit of access to the common market.
He took the opportunity to say that Slovakia would never give up its right of veto in the EU, in the areas where it still has one, namely foreign affairs, taxes or enlargement.
Thirty billion euros is 1.5 billion per year on average. (TASR, RTVS)
