Trucks jamming eastern Slovakia

Truck blockades in Poland, on the border with Ukraine, are causing problems in eastern Slovakia, in the Kosice region. Drivers now try to get to Ukraine through Slovakia, then Hungary; they travel south to the border with Hungary, just south of Kosice, then turn East to the Hungarian-Ukrainian border crossing Záhony in the Northeast of Hungary. More than 1,200 trucks are now parked there. The column is almost 30 kilometers long.
In Slovakia, at the exit from the D1 highway, there are currently almost 500 trucks standing still. Before Michalovce, more than 250 trucks are parked, she said. At the main border crossing into Ukraine, Vysne Nemecke, there are 450 trucks waiting.
The Slovak police now has decided to block trucks crossing into Hungary from Kosice, a spokesman said.
