District of Vranov nad Toplou in Eastern Slovakia Hit by Earthquake

         Eastern Slovakia was hit by an earthquake on Thursday, the head of the Slovak Academy of Sciences' (SAV) seismology department Kristian Csicsay has confirmed to TASR, adding that the tremors were felt in the vicinity of the village of Holcikovce in the district of Vranov nad Toplou (Presov region).
        Acording to Csicsay, it might have been an aftershock of the stronger earthquake that hit the area in October of last year.
        The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre posted on its website that a quake with a magnitude of 3 was registered at 12.54 p.m. on Thursday. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 9 kilometres and its epicentre was located 16 kilometres from the town of Humenne.  (TASR)
