Those who offer accommodation to tourists in their private homes or flats will have to pay a tax, according to the newly approved draft amendment to the law on local taxes and fees.
The level of the tax is decided by local authorities, with MPs arguing that the measure aims at eliminating the discrimination which owners of hotels and other certified touristic accommodation facilities feel, as they have been already paying such a tax for years already.
