The Constitutional Court issued a statement saying that "it doesn't communicate with anyone outside of legal procedural steps about matters that are being discussed at the Constitutional Court, or matters that will be submitted to the Constitutional Court."
The unusual statement is apparently in response to suggestions by Prime Minister Robert Fico that the President, Zuzana Caputova, had consulted with the Court before filing her challenge to the new Penal Code.
The court said it felt necessary to respond to "unprecedented statements by public representatives, by which the independence and impartiality of the Constitutional Court and its judges are called into question without any real basis." (TASR)
