The Asian tiger mosquito is in Slovakia. The Biomedical Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) says there have been several discoveries in the Bratislava borough of Ruzinov.
The insect is one of the most dangerous invasive mosquito species found in continental Europe as it can transmit up to 22 different viruses, such as West Nile virus, dengue, and yellow fever. (TASR)
