The first farmers protests have started in Slovakia. They want faster payment of subsidies, and less bureaucracy, among other things. One of the organizers, Jan Jelen, spoke at a press conference in front of the Ministry of Agriculture on Monday.
"Farmers got into existential problems. The purchase prices of commodities were low and they did not receive the direct payments to which they are entitled," he said. (TASR)
