Health Minister, Zuzana Dolinková, informed that Tatiana Červeňová will replace Ján Mikas in the post of Slovakia's chief hygienist as of Thursday. Červeňová is a doctor and Hlas-SD member. Dolinkova noted that the ministry was considering a personnel change in the post for quite some time. The Minister said that the fact that the co-governing SNS called for Mikas's ouster was a coincidence. The coalition agrees with Mikas´s dismissal. On the contrary, the opposition perceives the change as a purge or political appointments. Mikas in his written statement claimed that Červeňová has professional qualities and has worked in public health for many years. Mikas has been serving in the post since 2016. The chief hygienist is responsible for the activities of the Public Health Office, which falls under the remit of the Health Ministry.
