The preparation of projects identified by the state as strategic investments, including those that form part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), should be accelerated, according to a bill on extraordinary measures for strategic investments and TEN-T construction that the cabinet will discuss at its session on Wednesday.
The aim of the law is to make it easier for investors, who can only be the state, selected public-administration entities or state-run companies, to make investments that should be significant for Slovakia. The changes should concern, for example, expropriation proceedings, permission-granting procedures and the public procurement of strategic projects.
The government should also approve an extension of the provision of temporary refuge until March 4, 2025. This is a formal extension in line with a decision of the Council of the European Union.
In addition, the cabinet is expected to approve changes to the statutes of the Slovak Government Council for the Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Slovak Government Council for Science, Technology and Innovation. Changes in the Government Council for the Recovery and Resilience Plan also concern its composition, with the foreign affairs minister being replaced by the agriculture and rural development minister and the council being joined by a representative of large-business association Klub 500.
