Comenius University preparing audit of security measures and procedures

Comenius University in Bratislava has announced on a social network that it is preparing an audit of security measures and procedures, adding that it has been supporting the mental health of the academic community for a long time.

The university noted that it has also been in contact with security experts in this connection.

"We have been preparing an audit of the current security measures and procedures since December, first within the building on Safarikovo Square, and then the findings and measures taken will be implemented in other faculties and parts of the Comenius University," said the university.

Last year, the university strengthened the capacity of its psychological counselling centre and it plans to continue supporting it. Following the tragic shooting at the Charles University in Prague, it immediately set up online crisis help for students and staff. Since the beginning of the summer semester, the university has been preparing a series of discussions with psychologists at its dormitory.

The largest Slovak university added that it started to regulate the entrance to the rector's office building with turnstiles already a couple of years ago. It wants to continue with introducing this kind of checks in its other buildings as well.

The police were summoned to Comenius University's Faculty of Management and Pharmaceutical Faculty on Tuesday morning to investigate threats made against unspecified people. The police told staff and students to vacate the buildings. (TASR)
