Prime Minister Fico said in a video posted on Facebook that in his opinion, President Zuzana Čaputová is not interested in creating the impression that she is non-partisan. He expects her to veto the bill to change the criminal code. "She openly opposes the government," he said.
His minister Matus Sutaj Estok said on a TV programme over the weekend that if the president vetoes, the bill, the coalition would not mind changing punishment for violent crimes. "I myself support tougher penalties for the most heinous crimes, let there be no statute of limitations in these cases," he said. He did not say what his position was on corruption, or other economic crimes.
