Tourism had a good year: hotels and similar facilities had 5.7 million guests in 2023. That was almost a record: only 2019, pre-Covid, was a better year.
The number of visitors was an 18.5 percent increase over the year before.
Two thirds of tourists were Slovaks; one-third came from abroad. But foreign visitors saw the biggest increase: almost 33 percent more. Most popular destinations were Bratislava and Zilina regions.
