Ministers receive extra allowance

Ministers receive extra allowance

Prime Minister Fico said yesterday on Facebook he thinks it is unacceptable that ministers earn less than members of parliament or some officials at ministries. On Tuesday morning, the cabinet approved new compensation for ministers, Aktuality.sk reported.

They will receive so-called ‚flat rate allowances,‘ determined as a multiple of the average wage in the economy, on top of their regular salaries. The prime minister would get 4,5 times, and ministers 3,1 times. As the average wage is around 1400 euro, for Fico this would come down to 6.300 euro. For ministers, 4,300. It was not clear from the reporting in the newspaper whether this is a one-off, or a monthly payout.
