Slovak towns want permission to tax foreigners living and working in their communities. Municipalities are under great financial pressure, said the head of the cities union, Trencin mayor Richard Rybnicek. Contributions from the central government are not enough to cover expenses. One option is taxing foreigners.
“Currently, approximately 110,000 foreign nationals work in Slovakia. We provide them with services but we don't receive any taxes on them,” noted Rybnicek.
