Prime Minister Robert Fico met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin Wednesday evening. Fico said there are some differences of opinion but they do not burden the relationship.
Scholz said they talked about next week's EU summit, where financial aid for Ukraine will be discussed. He hopes for an agreement of all EU member states on the multiannual financial framework so that Kyiv can receive 50 billion euros over the next four years. Hungary opposed it in December. Fico said he would vote in favour of the aid package.
Fico said the Slovak Republic wishes Ukraine to be independent, sovereign, prosperous and democratic. This will be good not only for its neighbors, but the entire European Union, he added.
