The villages of Kľak and Ostrý Grúň yesterday commemorated the biggest massacre of World War II, on 21 January 1945. A total of 148 people of both villages were murdered by the German army for helping the partisans, and then burned. The two villages played an important role in the anti-fascist uprising, with around 3,000 partisans in the area supported by local residents. (RTVS)
